Community members step up to help West Grade
West Chapmanville Grade has just wrapped up the second week of our Backpack Buddy Program. Thanks to community support, the school is able to send home backpacks, full of food, with some of our little tigers each weekend. West Chapmanville Grade teachers, Kelli Elkins and Erica Keck, began working with Calvary Baptist Church several weeks ago to kick off the program. Since that time, other community groups; such as, Cornerstone Family Fellowship and The LEAD Organization have provided food and backpacks. West Grade even received a donation of backpacks from our friends at Logan Grade. Ralph Rodigherio, community leader, has provided the volunteers a large office space that will be used to implement the program. The space was much needed and will be used for organizing the food and preparing the backpacks each week. Parent volunteers Roberta Hensley, Ashley Farley, Nell Dunlap, and others have worked diligently stuffing, labeling, and handing out the backpacks. We want to thank everyone who has helped in any way with this project. This is a much needed project and we appreciate your ongoing support.
